Kate Hosking - 3D artist
My 3D practice focuses on metalworking and goldsmithing. Both my jewellery and sculpture focus on the versatility of wax and metal, as well as concepts of volume and intersecting planes.
I started my fine art journey with painting 13 years ago and over the last 5 years I have moved increasingly into a predominately 3D practice. I've always been interested in the interplay of light and contrasting edges, from burred to sharp, in my work. This is being translated into a 3D practice focusing on the intersection of planes and folds in a 3D object.
My jewellery plays with the solidity of metal as opposed to the lightness and ephemeral nature of sketches or the ever-changing state of wax.
